Michael met his future wife Eva, in 1969 during high school. They married in 1972. God has blessed them with four children. All four are married, and have provided them with eight wonderful grandchildren, the inspiration for the Commentary.
He was formally trained in chemical engineering and business, but his true calling was in studying and teaching the Word of God.
For nearly fifty years, he’s taught Bible classes to children and adults, in church settings and prison ministries. He was privileged to teach men’s and women’s adult leadership classes in the U.S., and three pastoral training trips to Russia and Estonia. He has served in various leadership roles in local churches, including a few years as a vocational pastor.
Michael and Eva are members at the East Ellijay Baptist Church, in Ellijay, GA.
Michael and Linda met in the seventh grade, way back in 1964. They were like brother and sister all through junior high and high school.
Many years later, when their lives as adults crossed paths again, they discovered that they were brother and sister in Christ.
The Grandpa Harp Commentary has provided a wonderful opportunity to use their God-given gifts for His glory.
Michael, Eva, Linda, and “Yo” still enjoy getting together for times of fellowship and travel.
Linda retired after 45 years as a dental hygienist, but still enjoys bringing smiles to others. The LORD blessed her with an artistic gift from a very early age. She credits the Holy Spirit with guiding her creativity, bringing ideas to life on paper and canvas.
Linda and her husband, Johann have been married for 42 years. They have three sons, but alas, no grandchildren. She often says, “There are lots of kids in this world who need love.” She has fulfilled that yearning by teaching kindergarten Sunday School for 25 years, and by mentoring “at-risk” kids in inner city schools.
She has been involved in mission work locally through her church’s City Center, and via four mission trips to Cambodia with Asia’s Hope. Linda and her husband sponsor a “son”, Vanthy, who will graduate soon and pursue a pastoral ministry in Cambodia.
