Exploring the New Testament - Discovering the Glory of God
Four Volumes of Commentary and Devotions
We begin our discoveries by studying the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. This establishes a good understanding of Jesus' ministry. Then we study the early history of the church in Jerusalem and surrounding areas in the first twelve chapters of Acts. Volume 1 finishes with the Book of James, the earliest recorded New Testament letter.
Volume 1 has over 400 lessons and illustrations, including an introductory chronology of the New Testament. Lessons are doctrinally conservative and lovingly presented. Go to the Lessons page to review samples from all four volumes.
The lessons are suitable for new believers and mature Christians. The lessons may be used for personal and family devotions, study of specific books, teaching preparation, or as outlines for group Bible studies. The depth of the lessons increases from Volumes 1-4. See suggested uses for the Commentary below.
Each volume of The Grandpa Harp Commentary includes a summary of the plan of salvation. After all, the ultimate discovery of the glory of God is in His revelation of eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ. The complete text of that section is included on this website under the Salvation tab above. It's placed here for your benefit, and to provide you with a sense of how these lessons are written. Check it out !

Volume 1 finishes with the early church in and around Jerusalem. Volume 2 follows the history of the church through the Book of Acts, chapters 13-28. As the lessons proceed through Acts, we stop along the way to study the letters of Paul in their historical context. Rather than their canonical order, we study Paul's letters in the order he wrote them - Galatians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Romans, Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemon. You will find that studying in this way adds much context to Paul's writings.
Volume 2 has over 500 lessons and illustrations, including an introductory chronology of the New Testament. Lessons are doctrinally conservative and lovingly presented. Go to the Lessons page to review samples from all four volumes.

Volume 2 ended with Paul's plea to Philemon. Volume 3 picks up with his letter to the church in Philippi, followed by the pastoral epistles to Titus and Timothy. This is followed by a study of the Book of Hebrews, the letters of Peter and Jude, and the epistles of 1, 2, 3 John. The final study in Volume 3 covers the Book of Revelation. You will find the Revelation study to be a refreshing change from most commentaries. At the end of Volume 3, you will have studied twenty-six of the New Testament books, with only one book remaining. We'll cover that final book in depth in Volume 4.

Only one book remains for Volume 4. As the lessons have progressed, so has the level of detail in the commentary. The final study of John is an in-depth look into this glorious "spiritual gospel". It is one of my favorite New Testament books. In it, you will see the grand picture of God's plan of salvation through the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ. The study ends with a special overview of God's revelations to mankind, culminating in the Word becoming flesh.

My first goal is to provide my brothers and sisters in Christ with God-honoring lessons on the New Testament. These lessons are suitable for Believers of all maturity levels, from the new convert to mature Christians. I want to make them available to as many people as possible. That's why the suggested prices are being kept low.
My second goal is to assist in the sending of missionaries to the lost. I am taking no financial benefits from the sales of these books. All monies from sales will go directly to the Missions Committee at my local Baptist church. It will be up to them to prayerfully decide where the funds are most needed.
Your purchases, and sharing of the website with others will be so helpful in fulfilling both these needs. I pray that many will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ through these efforts. Thank you for being a part of it.
